How stupid are you?

There is a lot of attention lately to the blog, friendster/myspace etc… behaviors of the “young”. Mostly because of dumb asses.

There have a been a couple well publicized accounts lately where either the person was targeted (and easily targeted I might add) because of information they posted on their blog OR after they committed a crime it turns out they had been talkin’ about killin’ everyone on the planet for months on their blog but everyone ignored it. Like the kid who killed his "secret girlfriends" parents, he had a blog, it had his phone number on it and sure he talked about Jesus but he also had 47 guns. So now blogs and "friend networks" are evil because they are linked to the crazy kid who shot people. Just like how Marylin Manson was the cause of the school shootings.

Here's the thing; ANYONE can see your information on the web. I don’t care what security you think you have, there is always someone who can and will hack it and they will see your information. Now, hopefully they are just nosey, but if they are crazy then you are in for a world of trouble and/or hurt.

There are many (and I mean MANY) people who post up stuff that is just crazy. Phone numbers, real names, addresses, and really really personal information. This is a cry for help, or a death wish, or maybe it is just stupidity.

Kiddies out there, keep it vauge, don't use your real name and for the love of god, realize that there is some creepy guy out there who still lives in his parents basement, loved Zena and Buffy a little too much and all he does is sit in the dark and troll the internet. He will find you, and he will pretend he is a 14 year girl who loves Britney and then he will stalk you and at best kill you.
