Too crazy to make up
Unless you live under a rock you will have heard that Dick Cheney was out hunting yesterday and shot one of his fellow hunters. Don't freak out, the guy is still alive and is said to be in stable condition. The man shot, Harry Whittington, a 78-year-old lawyer was hunting with Cheney on a private ranch in south Texas.
My favorite quote so far is 'Harry was in the line of fire and got peppered pretty good'.
Whittington was hit in the face, neck and chest and was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
They were out hunting birds (quail) and Whittington had gone to look for his bird in the tall grass, while Cheney and the third hunter walked to another location.
The good news is that is sounds like it was all totally Whittington's fault. Whittington came up behind Cheney, Whittington didn't signal or announce himself and when Cheney found more birds to shoot at it wasn't his fault at all that Whittington turned out to be right there.
Cheney is very apologetic however and was with Whittington and his wife at the hospital.
Although the shot "knocked him silly" He was said to be fine at the time and talking with his eyes open, "It didn't get in his eyes or anything like that."
A spokes person said "Fortunately, the vice president has got a lot of medical people around him and so they were right there" and "The vice president has got an ambulance on call, so the ambulance came."
So, really this guy is very lucky that there is a constant Cheney death watch.

I've been trying all morning to come up with some good slogans to come out of this, like: "When guns are outlawed only CHENEY will have guns!" and "CHENEY says, 'Shoot 'em in the face!'" I wonder if this the first time an American vice-president has shot someone in the face?
