Despite my constant claims that I never have enough time to do anything, I seem to find plenty of time to waste on-line. This is my proof of time wasted.

One of the most uncomfortable things I’ve watched in a while.

So by now everyone has heard about Michael Richards (aka Kramer) complete freak-out (ala Mel Gibson) on stage during a stand up routine. He got crap from the audience and the fired back some really racist remarks to the audience members.

Anyway…

So Jerry Seinfeld is on David Letterman right now. Pretty quick into the segment Dave asked Jerry if he’s talked to Michael Richards. Jerry says that he has and that in fact he asked if Michael wanted to come on with him. So they bring up the “live via satellite” thing and Michael Richards is clearly jittery and uncomfortable. He starts to explain what happened and he is stammering a little, admittedly it is a little like Kramer would do, but it is far more somber, then during the bits of silence between stammering the audience is clearly uncomfortable and maybe didn’t know if it was serious and few giggles start to happen.

At this point Jerry says (and it is split screen so you can see it) “it is not funny, stop laughing”. This works for a while and for another five minutes Michael stammers about race relations, loosing his temper and not being racist, and there are a few more uncomfortable silent moments and the nervous laughter starts again.

This time Michael Richards starts to say that maybe this is right forum, he’s heard the jokes Dave has made about the situation already and that he can hear the studio audience laughing. He stuck it out but he seemed to be on the verge of freaking out again.

At least Mel can blame the drink; Michael just has “rage” to blame, much harder to get out of, not even a half-assed excuse.
