Gangs be damned
All I know is you aren't getting into art school with this.
Where is your light source coming from? What kind of perspective is that? In some Chicago suburb a 16 year old kid was expelled for the above drawing in his notebook.
It wasn't just one teacher either, the board had to vote on this, and it was unanimous that he should be explelled.
Apparently the kid was in detention when the drawing was observed by a teacher. He was in detention for going to the bathroom (leaving the class room) without permission.
You will notice the initials "D.L.K.", the kids name is Derek Leon Kelly. The school says the initals are gang related.
The kid said they are his initials, but school officials believe it stands for "Disciples Latin King". The Latin Kings and Latin Disciples are rival gangs.
The school said the teen had been warned twice before to not doodle images of crowns because of the Latin Kings symbolism. His mother confirms he was told this.
Just hearing that you might give the kid a break, then you find out that his parents moved him here three years ago hoping he wouldn't get involved with gangs. Problem is, after three years Derek remains a freshman academically, and has been in LOTS of trouble for much of that time. He has been written up 54 times for, disturbing class, cutting class and skipping detention.
The cobweb is a nice touch.
