Hey dumb-ass, turn it down
I'm sure you'v been hearing the bally-hoo about iPods making you go deaf. In most stories they do acknowledge that it could be any MP3 player but as Apple has a hold of the biggest share they get mentioned the most, and sued. In the true American style some ass sued Apple because the iPod could cause hearing loss. Well, duh, so could your walkman from 1983. Mostly it is the earbuds that are to blame, pushing the sound deeper into our ears.
Just as McDonalds the coorporation didn't make little Timmy 300 lbs. Apple did not make Timmy loose his hearing. What made him loose his hearing is listening to Korn at the highest volume setting day after day.
In response to consumer concerns Apple has just announced that the update for iTunes software (for iPod Nano and the iPod models with video-playback) will now have a function that will alow you to set the over-all volume capabilities, or essentially lock them down to a lower volume. This is also being aimed as a parental tool.
So, along with not pouring your steeming hot coffee down your pants, not eating four Big Macs for lunch everyday, please, do not crank up your iPod. If you do, you will run the risk of going deaf, on top of having burned legs and weighing 300 lbs.
